A Big Deal

Well, it happened.  An event occurred that no matter how hard I may have tried, my raw denims would have to be washed.  14 months.  I bought my Cheap Mondays in January of 2011, it is now the end of February, 2012. 14 months of no washing.
So, I gritted my teeth and did it.

Before:

These bad boys fit my every curve beautifully, and we worked hard to get here. Notice the fade lines by the pockets. behind the knees, at the ankles: All created through natural wear.

During:

Wash

It is recommended that the denim be washed in a lukewarm water bath, mixed with extra dark care Woolite ($10, I was robbed-if anyone else needs it use mine).  They soaked for 45 minutes, and were rinsed off with cool water.

 Dry

It is recommended that the denim be hung dry, preferably outdoors and in the sun.  I hit a stroke of luck that day, sun? In Portland? The denim gods obviously heard my plea.

After:

To me, the jeans seem darker.  The fade lines less noticeable. (a result I was unready for, too faded yes.  But darker??)
The back looks rad, faded in all the right places.
They are quite a bit tighter in the waist area after the wash, reminiscent of our first months together.  I'm sure with a couple months hard wear, they will be better than ever!

Reverse Fade(ing)

Just an update on my reverse fades! They are still being broken in, as I don't wear them everyday.  I will get detailed pictures up once it is worthwhile. Here they are simply paired with wintry colors, black and deep maroon.
